How to improve your writing

Whether it’s writers block or too much work outside of your writing life there will always be something preventing you from writing that magnum opus you have in the back of your mind. Finding time to write is vital to getting your ideas on page. Here are some tips to help improve your writing.

Read Poetry

As crazy as it sounds reading poetry is a great way to get rid of that pesky writers block. Whether it be finding a favorite poet or taking the shotgun approach to find scattered poetry from various poets poetry is a great starting point to ignite that creative spark.

Write a Page a Day

Writing doesn’t have to be done in one sitting. However, taking time away from your writing is not good either. A good compromise is setting aside designated time for yourself to sit down and write as much as you want in the allotted time. Personally I go for one hour which is ample time to get my thoughts out onto one page.

Keep to the Routine

Keeping up with writing a page a day may sound daunting at first. However, if one keeps up with the routine they will have thirty pages done within a month and that can mean the world to some who just can’t find the time or know how to get their words onto the page.
